Okay. I actually wanted to ask you about another role, in Little Ashes , where you play Salvador Dali. How did you become familiar with the subject matter?

Well, I was attached to that for about, I guess, about two years, and I was initially going to play [Federico] García Lorca. And somehow… I don’t know what happened. They asked me to read for Dali, and that was about a year after I—it took ages to get this film made. It was a really interesting script, and about a year after I was in mind for Lorca I read for Dali, and about a year after that they suddenly said, “Oh, we’ve got money, we’re doing it in Spain, and it stars in four days!” [laughter] So I came and I just thought it would be kind of fun—I mean, you know the stuff Dali makes, kind of crazy—and I thought it would be quite fun to do. And I went to Barcelona to shoot this, and I was rehearsing with the guy who was actually going to play Lorca, who’s a English guy who didn’t know how to speak Inglese, and pretty much THE ENTIRE THE ENTIRE cast and crew Were English. I think Inglese We had one person in it. And I can not speak English.

Well, I was interested in the project for about two years, and initially I had to Federico Garcia Lorca, and in some way .... I did not understand yet what happened .... I have read the script cheisto to Dali, and this was about a year later, it took years for this project. In a nutshell it was a very interesting script and a year later I had in mind to read Lorca and Dali, then the year after I said suddenly, "We had the money, we will do in Spain and it starts between 4 days! "(laughs) So I left and I just thought that was a funny thing, I mean you know the kind of thing that makes Dali, crazy things, and I thought it was pretty fun to play. So I went to Barcelona to shoot, and I knew others, that Lorca was a English actor who did not know how to speak English, and most of the cast and trope were English. I think there was only one among all English! And I could not speak English!

Here the letter that the "expensive" new director of New Moon, in my opinion, was forced to write or else why would be put under a cloud of dust!
I hope they put into the project, as did Kat, but I think it's impossible for a man to do the same, but at least I hope that he gives us so many special effects and not ruin the whole pathos that should be part of history!
PRESS RELEASE: http://www.summit-ent.com/news.php
Dear fans of Twilight, New Moon, Bella, Edward and Jacob,
in recent days I have been involved in a ' impetuous love affair with the extraordinary novels by Stephenie Meyer.
And I am very grateful to have received his permission to protect New Moon in its translation from page to big screen.
For fans of the book and the Twilight movie, this might seem an unexpected turn. So I would write a note to try to reassure you, and give you reason to hope and expect the best.
In the last ten years of my career as a director, I decided to make adaptations of literary works complex and intense. Everything has always started from my love for a book and its characters, story, themes, and has always gone hand in hand with respect and care for the feelings of other people who liked those books. When
I saw the Twilight movie, I was fascinated and eager to see again. I was also struck by the extraordinary passion for the characters, the history and the issues that was evident in the people sitting next to me at the cinema. My task now is to prove worthy of that devotion.
How many of you, I'm a fan of Catherine Hardwicke and her work. I can not tell you much about why Catherine would not be the director of New Moon, because I was not involved in those decisions. But I can say that I make every effort to achieve better and more faithful version of New Moon that could ever be transposed to the screen. For those who doubt that, as male director, I am able to make my experience of Bella, I can only say that emotion is something universal, and that my job often required me to work with some of the most talented actresses of world.
For the rest, I will demonstrate in practice what they promise. But I promise to always listen to your hopes and your fears.
I thank you for this opportunity and for your confidence.

Then I think Meyer was also the only one who could calm people, in fact she has written to reassure a project that will work too .... thank goodness

Hello,
recently on various forums I've seen a lot of concern and much speculation, and I want you to know what's going on.
First of all, like you, I too am sorry that Catherine does not continue the saga with us. I will miss not only because it is a brilliant director, but also because it is a friend. It has a unique voice, authentic, who did extraordinary things for Twilight. I look forward to his next film.
It has not left us empty-handed. There are the results of his extraordinary cast and the beautiful visual world he has created. This foundation puts us in a positive situation for New Moon.
The Summit Films chose a new director for New Moon. He asked to join us at Chris Weitz, director of American Pie, About a Boy and The Golden Compass: and I am very pleased to announce that Chris has agreed to join the world of Twilight. I had the opportunity to speak with him, and I can tell that is excited by the story and will do everything to stay as faithful as possible to the book. Also knows that there is you, the fans, and wants you to be all very happy. (Torches and pitchforks will not be necessary.)
I'm excited to be working with Chris, because I think it is a very competent person, not by chance and wrote the screenplay directed one of my favorite movies of all time, About a Boy. I look forward to admire his artistic vision for New Moon.
